« Whether in science or translation, it’s solving the puzzles that keeps me interested. ”

Susan Johnson is part of what makes Anglocom such a fascinating mix of experience, knowledge, and ability. A trained agriculture and entomology specialist, she didn’t actually come to the field of translation until mid-career. But when she did—well, what a success that has been!

This Montreal native began considering new career options when circumstances whisked her away to a new life in France. She had always felt a special pull to translation, so she enrolled in the distance learning program at New York University to train in the field. That put her in touch with Anglocom, whose president, Grant Hamilton, was teaching a course there.

Today Susan actually resides in Guadeloupe, but we were so impressed with her abilities, we hired her as a fulltime member of our staff. She has worked remotely since January 2008, with an occasional visit home to Quebec to touch base with family and colleagues.
