Anglocom president to give translation workshops for OTTIAQ
November 22, 2016

Anglocom president Grant Hamilton will give two workshops for English translators and revisers this November 24 and 25 at the invitation of Québec’s professional order of translators, Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ).

The first, Bill 101 and Other Things Quebec Translators Should Know About, is a primer for English translators working for Quebec clients. It will look at such things as how the Charter of the French Language affects translators, whether accents are necessary on Montreal and Quebec, and which organization names have to stay in French and when. The 1-½ hour session will provide answers to the many questions participants regularly wonder about.

The next day on November 25, Mr. Hamilton will be giving the workshop Turning Abstract French into Hands-on English. It is designed to provide new insight into what makes English tick and get participants thinking in new ways to solve translation challenges.

Both workshops are taking place at the OTTIAQ office at 2021 Avenue Union, Suite 1108, Montreal (McGill metro station).
