Anglocom president guest lecturer at American Translators Association conference
October 26, 2016

Anglocom president Grant Hamilton will be making two presentations at the annual conference of the American Translators Association (ATA), taking place in San Francisco, California, November 2 to 6, 2016.

His first presentation will be on the preconference training day, Tuesday, November 2. At ATA's special request, Mr. Hamilton will be leading a three-hour session on editing advertising copy translated into English from other languages.

As part of the regular conference program, Mr. Hamilton will also be presenting a workshop entitled "Turning Abstract French Into Hands-on English," a session he gave first last August in Cambridge, UK. This workshop examines the fundamental differences between how English and French describe reality and how important it is for translators to step back from the abstract wording of French and express notions in a more concrete manner in English.
